CSG 831 - Counseling and Communicating with Contemporary Youth

A course designed to introduce students to effective procedures for understanding and addressing the unique developmental crises and tasks adolescents face.  It explores strategies for assessing the psychological needs and problems of adolescents, as well as the skills needed for
addressing these through counseling, group, skill-building, social, and instructional interventions.  Special emphasis is given to understanding today’s youth culture and developing a “street-smart” approach to building relationships with youth.
