MTE 739 - Foundations of Teaching


A course for students without a prior undergraduate degree in education.  The course covers the foundational knowledge and skills for the teaching/learning process.  The nature of the teaching profession, special characteristics of learners, theories and research associated with instruction, management, and evaluation, and issues associated with the social and historical foundations of the profession are addressed.  Micro-teaching and unit preparation are integral parts of the course.
