MTE 783 - The Diverse Learner: Learning Styles, Multiple Intelligences, Children at Risk


A course that examines the variety of learning styles that influence the way teachers, parents, and students interpret their world. This course examines multiple intelligences as identified by Howard Gardner.  Curriculum applications, teaching strategies, classroom management, and assessment specific to each intelligence are addressed.   This course also addresses issues for educators dealing with “at risk” students and their parents.  Topics include: children with learning difficulties, children from single parent families, teen pregnancy, substance abuse, eating disorders, abused children, and gifted children.  Practical applications and implications for the diverse learner are examined.
