Overview

Students are able to earn a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree concurrently. The student selects an existing undergraduate program and an existing graduate program and completes them as a dual-level program. Such a customized program will consist of a minimum of 150 credit hours (at least 120 undergraduate credits and at least 30 graduate credits), but may be considerably more credits depending on the programs chosen.

Program Information

A customized dual-level program will contain the entire graduate program (less any applicable advanced standing) and the entire undergraduate program. An exception is if graduate courses meet the requirements of certain undergraduate courses (such as in the case of double numbered courses). In those cases, the undergraduate requirements of the customized dual-level program would never be reduced below 120 credits.

Certain graduate programs and/or degrees are excluded from the customizable dual-level program. They include, but are not limited to, the Master of Divinity, Master of Science in Counseling , and Master of Social Work degrees.

Process Information

Students interested in the customizable dual-level program must complete a special application (available in the Registrar’s Office). Only students who have between 28 and 60 completed credits (Sophomores and first-semester Juniors) may apply. The following cumulative grade point averages are required for approval to enter the program:

• From 28 to 44 earned credits, a GPA of 3.33 or higher
• From 45 to 60 earned credits, a GPA of 3.00 or higher 

Once the student has been approved, the Registrar will create a customized curriculum sheet that integrates the undergraduate and graduate programs. The customized curriculum requires approval by the Dean of the school which houses the undergraduate program, the Dean of the school which houses the graduate program, and the Registrar. Once both the student and the curriculum have been approved, the student must submit a Change of Program form in order to finalize the decision to enter the customized dual-level program.

Students in a customized dual-level program are a part of the school which houses the undergraduate program and will be advised by that school.
