MSE 740 - Philosophy of Education

A course designed to help the student develop a personal philosophy of education based upon Christian theism. It is the primary objective of this course to analyze, draw together and systematize presuppositions (truth claims) related to education, the pupil, the teacher, the curriculum and the teaching/learning process. A written philosophy and an orally articulated philosophy are the unique products of this course. One’s philosophical roots are compared to competing world view “root systems” and a model for worldview integration is developed.  Traditional and Progressive philosophical thought and modern theories of education are examined.
